The series "Art and Territory" is a collection of works which aim at enhancing the historical and artistic heritage of a more or less limited area; they may be either monographs on buildings or volumes on the works of art of the historical places of a communal territory or a precise area.

In this book we wanted to collect, allthough it's a briefly collection of photos and for that reason something will be missed out, the storical and landscape-painting essence of Tuscany. We wanted to do that within a range of photos which includes the Appeninnes, some plains around the Arno river, usually left out from the books on Tuscany tout court. It emerges a picture of a territory which, although being always homogeneous both culturally and politically across the centuries, is a cliché where there are many traditions and costumes due to the numerous battles between cities, districts which also divided its centres. But these various aspects both urbanistic and human are added to others with a result of a thousand Tuscanies united in one, in a book which wants to praise and give a summary of a place never enough known.
