Buonconsiglio,
a Della Robbia-style polychrome terracotta, and it once held
an altar piece of a Madonna and Child, San Lorenzo and saints,
by Mariotto di Nardo. This work has now been restored and trasferred
to the church of Santa Margherita a Tosina. Take State
Road 70 again (the "Casentinese") in the direction
of Consuma; there is a rise in altitude in the surrounding countryside
until you reach Borselli at 738 m, and then the Pass of Consuma
(1058 m), an outlying district of Pelago
and a well-frequented tourist centre founded by the Consumi
family from Ferrara. At Borselli, take a detour to Pomino and
stop at the parish church of Santa Margherita a Tosina. In the
vicinity is the "Il Palagio" holding, that was formerly
the 16th-century villa belonging to the Albizi family and which
currently belongs to the Frescobaldi family; the 15th-century
Villa Busini; and the Villa Budini Gattai, seat of the Petrognano
farm-holiday (agritourist) centre (tel. 055/8318812). Returning
to State Road 67, you can reach the towns of Rimaggio, Castiglioni
and Rufina. |
